NOCCO’s February concerts begin with Felix Mendelssohn's A Midsummer Night's Dream Overture, a whimsical and enchanting piece that will transport you into the magical world of Shakespeare's play with its sparkling melodies and vibrant orchestration. Following this piece will be an undoubtedly riveting and virtuosic performance by the winner of NOCCO’s 2024 Concerto Competition, Maia Nemes, performing Mozart’s Flute Concerto in G major. Finally, the concert concludes with Louise Farrenc's Symphony No. 2 in D Major, Op. 35, a compelling work that exemplifies her prowess as a 19th-century composer. Farrenc's Symphony No. 2 is noted for its structural clarity, melodic inventiveness, and the seamless integration of classical form with Romantic expressiveness, showcasing her unique voice in the symphonic tradition.

The final concert of NOCCO’s 10th Anniversary Season kicks off with Florence Anna Maunders’ exhilarating and avant-garde contemporary work, Badder Gyrations. Following is Francis Poulenc’s Organ Concerto, FP 93, a piece featuring dramatics contrasts from dark, intense passages to moments of whimsical charm. Become enveloped by the powerful resonance of the magnificent organs at Seattle First Baptist Church and Blessed Sacrament Church. Finally, the performance will conclude with Franz Schubert’s Symphony No. 6, D.589, highlighting NOCCO’s joyful energy with its lyrical melodies and elegant classical forms, and providing a delightful and uplifting finale to the 2024 - 2025 Concert Season.
