Marcus Talley

Marcus is currently adjunct faculty at Seattle University where he has taught violin lessons, String Performance Seminar, and String Pedagogy. He also has a thriving private studio in Issaquah with accomplishments ranging from principal and concertmaster positions in the Seattle Youth Symphony and the Bellevue Youth Symphony to winners of concerto competitions and festivals. Marcus has been a member of NOCCO from its beginning and it remains his favorite performance outlet.

In recent history, Marcus was a violin coach and coach coordinator for the Everett Youth Symphony Orchestras and worked with string programs in various school districts. He was also the director of the Eastside chamber music program for the Seattle Conservatory of Music and a chamber music coach for the Westside program in addition to facilitating the College/Performance Prep class. He has performed as a member of the Juneau Symphony, Bellevue Philharmonic, Federal Way Philharmonic, and other regional ensembles.

Mr. Talley holds a DMA in violin performance from Michigan State University, an MM in violin performance from Western Michigan University and a BM in violin performance from Western Washington University. His principal teachers include Charles Avsharian, Renata Knific, David Updegraff, Walter Schwede, and Celia Weiss-Nicks.
